We are thrilled to extend a warm welcome to John Saia, the newest addition to our team at Centurion Consulting Group, joining us as Executive Vice President. John brings with him a wealth of experience in the realm of government contracting, and we had the pleasure of speaking with him about his background and vision for our company. With a robust history of success in the gov tech sector, John’s insights and expertise promise to be invaluable assets as we continue to innovate and grow. His strategic approach and commitment to excellence align seamlessly with the values we hold dear at Centurion. We’re excited to see how John’s leadership will enhance our already outstanding team and propel us to even greater heights in the future. Welcome aboard, John!
What is your background and how do you feel like it has prepared you to take on this new role at Centurion?
During my six-year tenure in my last role, I navigated a remarkable journey, transforming the company from minimal federal experience to generating double-digit revenues, cultivating an outstanding track record across the Department of Defense (DOD), intelligence community, and federal civilian agencies. As a woman-owned small business, there were striking parallels with Centurion, and I look to offer my experience in recruiting, operations, sales, business development, capture proposals, and marketing, to drive future growth for our firm.
In my previous roles, I have had the opportunity to lead organizations that have been awarded multiple contracts as a government subcontractor, serving a diverse clientele including the DOD, Army, Navy, Air Force, intelligence community, and various federal civilian agencies like the Department of Commerce, Treasury, DHS, and the VA. This experience has been pivotal in shaping my leadership acumen and operational proficiency, including the opportunity to spin off a successful business unit into its own standalone entity, leveraging expertise in set-aside categories and navigating the application process for new federal programs. My entry into the IT Services arena for government contracting occurred with the owners of Centurion many years ago, establishing a foundation that laid the groundwork for future collaborations. Our reunion marked a return to familiar territory, reaffirming our collective commitment to success.
Can you tell us about the climate of the industry currently and how Centurion can stay competitive in this market? What are you most looking forward to as Centurion’s new EVP?
At the core of our success lies a dependable delivery process. It’s what enables us to remain relevant, competitive, and connected with our customers. We serve a diverse range of clients, including agency and systems integrator customers, all while striving to establish our unique positioning through our commitment to deliver excellence. As I step into this role, I aim to understand the operations of the past and leverage the best practices I’ve acquired over my career to drive positive change and enhance efficiencies within our team.
By prioritizing cost competitiveness, maintaining IT and process integrity, and obtaining industry certifications, we position ourselves for success, particularly in federal contracting environments. Crucially, cultivating genuine relationships with our clients is paramount to becoming their trusted partner. Integrity is non-negotiable for me, and I’m proud to align with Blaine and Theresa, whose values mirror my own. With a talented team already in place, my focus is on nurturing individual potential and guiding our organization to new heights. Together, we’ll build upon the strong foundation laid before us, ensuring continued growth and success.
What are some interesting things about yourself?
My wife and I met in college back in 2004, and since then, we’ve been blessed with three wonderful children. Our eldest, Max, is 13 years old, while our daughters, Piper and Pennie, are 7 and 5 respectively. Our family’s love for water sports runs deep, with our son excelling as a champion wakeboarder, and traveling the world to compete as a pro junior athlete. Meanwhile, our daughter is a dedicated gymnast, showcasing her talents on the competition team. Our youngest, at just 5 years old, is already immersing herself in the world of dance. We strive to provide our children with opportunities to lead extraordinary lives. I have a passion for golf, although I must admit I don’t get to indulge in it as often as I used to.
