Centurion Consulting Group, LLC, a Woman-Owned Small Business headquartered in Herndon, VA conveniently located near Washington D.C., is a national consulting firm servicing the public and private sector by delivering relevant solutions for our client’s complex business and technology challenges. Our leaders each have 25 years of experience in the Information Technology, Business and Professional Services industry serving federal agency, system integrator, and commercial customers.

Our corporate family brings demonstrated experience over the past three decades in partnering with over 10,000 consultants and hundreds of clients in the federal government and private sector. Today, Centurion delivers Information Technology, Business Professional, and Human Resource services and solutions as a federal contractor (GSA MAS 54151S & 56131 Schedule holder) and commercial industry IT services provider.

We believe that customer service to all you are entrusted with is not a “throwback” concept and that true business partnerships begin simply with a handshake. Through a commitment to do the right thing even when it’s the hard thing, we have gratefully built a loyal and expansive network, that today we engage as our fellow Centurions to serve and effectively engage with our customers’ mission.

We started with the belief that we could offer this time-learned knowledge via a mission-driven firm that serves a balanced commitment to financial success, social responsibility, and our community. Several years later we are grateful and thankful for all those in our Centurion family and look forward to our collective significance for years to come.

What's in a Name?

The centurion was a professional officer in the Roman army and navy originally engaged around 100 BC. To earn the rank of centurion, a Roman legionary would be battle-tested and need to have served somewhere between 13 to 20 years. In service, centurions commanded groups of legionnaires known as a “centuria” meaning 100, but in practice somewhere between 80 to 100 soldiers. They were responsible to train under adverse conditions, meet extreme standards of conditioning and endurance, give training and discipline to the legionaries, and provide for their own food, clothing, bedding, armor, and other expenses.

Centurions were chosen for their display of valor, honor, loyalty, strength, and expertise in skill. They took quiet pride in acutely listening and being ready to execute on the orders received to meet their obligations. They led their century from the front, occupying a position alongside their legionnaires at the front right location of the formation and were known for inspiring and leading by their personal action and example. The promotion to centurion was considered one of the highest honors of a legionnaire.

Two thousand years later, the definition of a centurion has held its own and we look to uphold that tradition as a Mission-driven firm engaged in servant leadership. We believe the centurion’s unwavering commitment to excellence, honor and loyalty, and people and communities served, are directly relevant to the requirements of successful business partnerships, organizational growth, financial and cultural success.

We invite you to join us in leading, serving, and delivering as a Centurion.

Blaine W. Smith

Principal

Leading and growing nationally ranked IT Services and consulting firms in the Mid-Atlantic for nearly 20 years has led Blaine to Centurion.  He entered the industry as a business development executive focused on genuine relationship building, that allowed him to excel in connecting the dots between people, projects and profit.

Committed to continual personal development for career growth, Blaine organically opened the Baltimore, Delaware, and Philadelphia markets for a Top 10 IT national staffing firm and grew it into a recognized leader in the marketplace. From there, he ran an emerging company in the Washington D.C. area and, with its owners, took it to market and successfully sold it to a nationally ranked top 15 professional services firm.

After the acquisition, Blaine continued for five years to lead the National Capital Region, and the wholly owned subsidiary servicing the Federal Government as a large IT Services contractor.

Blaine’s passion is rooted in the development of people and business to help them exceed their potential while ensuring corporate growth.  He strives daily to continue a successfully proven business strategy that is built on a personal non-negotiable commitment to integrity, loyalty, work ethic, and development of genuine trust.

John Saia

Executive Vice President

John Saia is a tested and exceptional leader in the government contracting sector, with over seventeen years of dynamic experience. Before joining Centurion, he transitioned to a commercial supplier-focused organization and expanded its presence in the GovCon community. His initial success there led him to drive a strategic shift, guiding the firm into its next chapter. He successfully spun off a federal-focused business unit into a self-sustained, woman-owned small business and expanded their footprint in the federal market, highlighting his expertise in set-aside categories. Additionally, John led his previous organization to numerous contract and subcontract awards, secured Top Secret FCL sponsorship, and seamlessly blended US and international operations teams. All the while, he maintained a strong track record and earned recognition for serving diverse clients like the Department of Defense (DoD), Army, Navy, Air Force, the Intelligence Community (IC), and civilian agencies including the Departments of Commerce, Treasury, DHS, VA, and many other federal civilian agencies.

Now, as EVP at Centurion, he is focused on leveraging his extensive experience with industry partners, emerging technology markets, operations, sales, recruiting, business development, capture proposals, and marketing to drive growth for both revenue goals and the team culture necessary to bring value to an already amazing team.

John is a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a BSBA in Economics. He grew up in the Hampton Roads, VA area as the son of a 20+ year active-duty US Navy service member, which is where his passion for serving and supporting our nation’s warfighters was born. Outside of work, John cherishes his family life with his wife and three children, residing in Orlando, FL. An avid golfer and supporter of his children’s sports and activities, John balances professional achievements with personal fulfillment.
